2 Ways to Find The Right Book Coach for You

Now that you know What to Think About Before Choosing a Book Coach, how do you do the actual legwork to find a book coach? It’s nothing too complicated, but you’ll need to get your typing fingers ready.

1. Get Referrals from Friends

If you want to find an amazing book coach, why not ask the people around you? Using pointers from our previous post as a guide, write a paragraph about what you’re looking for in a book coach. Include as much detail as you want: personality, expertise, etc.

Once you’ve got a solid paragraph, send it out via email and social media to get referrals. This technique works for two reasons: you’ll get referrals from people you trust, and you’ll also get recommendations from the people that they trust.

(If you’re looking, we have a book coach recommendation for you!)

2. Check Google for Ideas

Even if you’ve got great options after getting referrals, do a quick Google search using your paragraph to see if anyone stands out. Even if you don’t find a better option, you could learn something that will help you make a better choice, or something to add to your “book coach criteria” paragraph to make it more precise.

Careful: if someone is ranking well on Google as a book coach, that doesn’t mean they’re any good! They could just have a lot of SEO experience and know how to game the system. It’s critical to vet potential book coaches properly - something we’ll cover in the next post.
